The Life-Changing Impact of Legends

Together, we’re bringing hope to people being treated for blood cancers – by recruiting stem cell donors, supporting nurses, and building a more caring, informed community.

Everything we’ve achieved has been authentic, organic, and community-driven – led by a small team of passionate volunteers. We’re proud to say that every dollar donated goes directly to the cause – educating and recruiting stem cell donors, and supporting nurses as they become specialists in cancer and haematology care. All admin costs are covered separately by our directors and grants, so your donations have maximum impact where they’re needed most.

Big Impact. Bigger Hearts.

St Vincent’s Hospital

A Room That Holds Hope

In 2018, we proudly funded a state-of-the-art stem cell transplant room at St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney – part of the new Blood and Marrow Transplant Ward, and named in honour of Trace Richey. Trace inspired the creation of The TLR Foundation, and this space stands as a lasting tribute to his legacy.mThe room was purpose-built for patients undergoing stem cell transplants, giving them the best possible chance, the highest quality of care, and dignity through one of the most challenging times of their lives. It’s more than just bricks and mortar – it’s a symbol of love, generosity and the real, lasting change we can make together.

Stem cell donors

Finding More Life-Saving Matches

We’ve partnered with Stem Cell Donors Australia to recruit more young Australians to the stem cell donor registry – because for some people with blood cancer, donated stem cells from a perfect stranger are their only hope of survival. That stranger could be you. With just a few cheek swabs and a couple of minutes of your time, you could one day be the reason someone else gets a second chance at life.

Together, we’re building a stronger, more diverse registry – one that truly reflects Australia. Through education, awareness and real stories, we’re making it easy for more people to step up and help save lives.

Nursing scholarships

Supporting Nurses for Life

Specialist nurses play a vital role in the care and recovery of people being treated for blood cancers and disorders – and we’re here to back them all the way. Through our partnership with the University of Sydney, we’re funding perpetual scholarships to support nurses studying a Master of Cancer and Haematology Nursing.

These scholarships don’t just support a single nurse – they create a legacy. The impact will be felt for generations as more nurses gain the knowledge and expertise needed to provide the highest level of care to patients when they need it most.

GvHD research

Backing Research That Matters

Graft versus Host Disease (GvHD) is a serious and often life-threatening complication that can occur after a stem cell transplant. It happens when the donor’s immune cells attack the recipient’s body – and sadly, it’s something we know all too well. That’s why we’re proud to support research into the cause, prevention, treatment and cure of GvHD.

As a long-time consumer advisor to researchers at the University of Wollongong, our Co-founder and Chair, Neil Pennock, brings over 10 years of lived experience and advocacy to this work. Alongside raising funds to support this research, we’re committed to ensuring patient voices are heard – helping translate breakthroughs into real-world care and raising awareness of GvHD in the community.
