Apply for a TLR Nursing Scholarship
TLR's scholarships help nurses become specialists in cancer and haematology care.
We know the difference a specialist nurse makes to patients and the people who love them. That’s why we fund these scholarships. If you’re thinking about taking the next step in your education, we’d love to hear from you.
The two scholarships have different application processes, outlined below.
Master of Cancer and Haematology Nursing Scholarships
The Trace Richey Nursing Scholarship and Allan Frenkel Nursing Scholarship are perpetual scholarships funded by TLR and administered by the University of Sydney. The University manages the application process, awards the scholarships and oversees eligibility. Eligible nurses should apply directly through the University of Sydney when applications open.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
- be a registered nurse working in a relevant clinical area
- hold, or be applying for, a Commonwealth Supported Place in the program
- be enrolled in, or planning to enrol in, the Master of Cancer and Haematology Nursing at the University of Sydney

Applications are submitted through the University of Sydney scholarship portal.

TLR Nurse Practitioner Scholarships
TLR also supports haematology nurses studying the Master of Nursing (Nurse Practitioner) at the University of Sydney. The TLR Nurse Practitioner Scholarship is administered directly by The TLR Foundation. This scholarship supports experienced nurses who want to step into advanced clinical practice and strengthen specialist care within haematology services.

Eligibility
Applicants must:
- be a Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration
- have a minimum of four years clinical experience in haematology
- be accepted into, or applying for, the Master of Nursing (Nurse Practitioner) at the University of Sydney
- have applied for, or hold, a Commonwealth Supported Place in the program
- demonstrate a commitment to continuing practice within haematology services
Application timing
The Master of Nursing (Nurse Practitioner) at the University of Sydney has two intakes each year.
- Semester 1 intake. Applications close on 31 January each.
- Semester 2 intake. Applications close on 30 June.

TLR expects to offer one or two scholarship each year, depending on available funding.

Applications are assessed by an expert selection panel appointed by The TLR Foundation.
