Get Involved with TLR

Every year, Australians being treated for blood cancers rely on the support of others. By getting involved with TLR, you can help recruit new stem cell donors, support nursing scholarships, and strengthen the care people receive when it matters most. Whether you join the stem cell donor registry, get involved in fundraising, or help spread the word, you’re playing a real part in supporting people when they need it most. It all starts here.

City2Surf

Running (well, mostly walking) for a great cause

Every year, The TLR Foundation takes part in Sydney’s iconic City2Surf. Supporters of all ages show up, walk most of the course, run a little, and cross the finish line together. No pressure. No finish times to beat. Just people doing what they can for something that matters. Thanks to our incredible community, over the years The TLR Foundation’s City2Surf teams have helped raise more than $350,000 for our work. That support goes directly towards funding nursing scholarships and helping recruit more young and diverse stem cell donors across Australia. It’s proof that you don’t need to be fast, fit, or even enjoy running to make a real difference. And if this sounds like your kind of involvement, you could be right there with us next year.

Fundraise your way

Fundraising with TLR doesn’t have to look a certain way. Some people run. Others bake. Some skip the presents and ask for donations instead. A few people jump out of planes. That one’s not for everyone.

Every dollar raised helps recruit young and diverse stem cell donors and supports nursing scholarships that help nurses become specialists in cancer care. We can help you set up a fundraising page, share ideas, and quietly cheer you on from the sidelines.

You can join one of our community fundraising events, like City2Surf, or do something entirely your own. However you choose to get involved, it helps more than you might think.

Back the work that matters

People support The TLR Foundation for many reasons. Some donate. Some fundraise. Some shave their heads alongside friends and supporters who know first hand the impact a blood cancer diagnosis and treatment has.

Financial support helps make everything you’ve seen on this page possible. It supports the recruitment of young and diverse stem cell donors, funds nursing scholarships that help nurses become specialists in cancer care, and backs research and advocacy that improve patient outcomes.

We’re a small organisation, led by volunteers, with no salaries, no rent, and no government funding. That means donations go directly to where they’re needed most. If this work matters to you, your support helps make it possible.

Get your workplace involved

We love working with workplaces that want to do something meaningful. Getting your team involved is a simple way to support people being treated for blood cancers and bring colleagues together around a shared purpose.

There’s no one way to do it. Some teams fundraise together. Others use matched giving, join events like City2Surf, or support our work in ways that fit their culture. We can also come to your workplace to raise awareness about stem cell donation and inspire eligible staff aged 18 to 35 to join the stem cell donor registry.

If this sounds like something your workplace could get behind, we’d love to hear from you.

Get involved. It’s easy to help.

You don’t need to run a marathon to make a difference. Trust us. When we say fun run, we mostly mean walk. Getting involved is simple, and the impact can be life changing.

There are lots of ways to get involved with The TLR Foundation. You might donate, fundraise, help organise stem cell donor recruitment drives, or get your workplace involved. Some people do one thing. Others do a few.

One of the most important ways you can help is by spreading the word and encouraging more people aged 18 to 35 to join the stem cell donor registry. Many people don’t realise how easy stem cell donation is, and awareness makes a real difference.

However you choose to support The TLR Foundation, you’re helping give hope to people being treated for blood cancers and supporting the nurses who care for them every day.
